Library: The Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library, BristolAlways the Third Saturday in October The Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library will host an exhibit titled, “Harriman and the Merchant Shipbuilding Corporation: the Rise of a Community.” The exhibition, open during library hours, will take the viewer on a tour of Bristol Borough’s shipbuilding industry during World War I and the town of Harriman that grew with it. Find out how an entire town, complete with a hotel, hospital, and schools, was planned and built in only two years. Learn how the Merchant Shipbuilding Corporation made a lasting impact on Bristol Borough and discover how this historic endeavor shapes Bristol today.
