Presenting is the Bucks-Mont Astronomical Association (BMMA) in support of the American Library Association NASA @ My Library STEM education initiative. BMMA educators will discuss the various types of eclipses encountered here on Earth, both lunar and solar. They will demonstrate how a solar eclipse occurs, relaying what the upcoming August 21 solar eclipse will be like in Southeastern Pennsylvania relative to other parts of the country, and discuss how the natural environment responds to a total solar eclipse. Further demonstrations will include techniques to safely view a solar eclipse and how to build a safe solar viewer in the event that eclipse glasses are unavailable. Seating is limited for this free event.
