Virtual Program Steinstuecken: A Little Pocket of Freedom
Steinstuecken, a West Berlin neighborhood, was part of the American Sector in Berlin during the Cold War. However, Steinstuecken was COMPLETELY surrounded by Communist-controlled territory. The Americans couldn’t even send soldiers or supplies to the village without risking a confrontation (and possible combat) with the Soviets or East Germans.
Attend this zoom presentation in your own home and discover the fascinating true story of how the Germans and the Americans were able resist the Communist pressure while managing to live relatively normal lives. Hear how the Americans and the Soviets managed to keep tensions down and prevent a crisis.
