Mental Health Crisis Training

"Question, Persuade, Refer" (QPR): Suicide Prevention Training is a program presented by the Bucks County Behavioral Health Department. Attend a QPR program that is a free, two-hour long training that helps people understand and recognize when someone is going through a mental health crisis.  QPR teaches how to recognize some of the clues, warning signs, and suicidal communications of someone who is in trouble.  QPR is not a form of counseling or treatment - it is intended to offer hope through positive action, and give people the skills to act vigorously to prevent a possible tragedy.

This program is open to adults, teens, and families.

Bucks County is proud to report that over 4,000 people in our community have been trained as QPR Gatekeepers, who are merchants of hope - and hope helps prevent suicides.

The program speaker is Judy Heath, LSW, is the Interagency Coordinator at the Bucks County Intermediate Unit, where she helps all school districts in Bucks County with the educational and mental health needs of students. Judy joined the Bucks County Intermediate Unit and served as a school social worker in Bristol Township School District for over 20 years. Judy has worked in child welfare for over 14 years, with many of them with Bucks County Children & Youth as an abuse investigator and then as a supervisor in foster care. She has trained foster parents and caseworkers throughout PA on issues relevant to working with our most vulnerable youth. Judy works for the Bucks County Intermediate Unit, having served students for over 19 years in a school district, and is now the Interagency Coordinator, addressing the educational and mental health needs of students in Bucks County school districts. Judy is a certified trainer in suicide prevention (QPR & Youth Mental Health First Aid), school crisis intervention and prevention and threat assessment protocols.

This program fulfills the Health literacy of PaLA's PA Forward Gold Star program. There will be no salespeople present, no forms to complete, and the presenter will not receive a list of program attendees.
