Craftsmanship of Glencairn
Event box

Nick Conte of the Glencairn Museum in Bryn Athyn will discuss the craftsmanship of Glencairn, a mansion built for Raymond and Mildred (Glenn) Pitcairn and their children in the 1920s and 1930s. The estate contains stunning examples of early 20th-century craftsmanship; original works of art created using the raw materials of metal, glass, stone, and wood by over one hundred artists, architects, and laborers. They contributed to the construction and decoration of Glencairn, which took more than a decade to complete. Without the efforts of all of them working together, the family's remarkable castle-like home could not have become a reality. Join us as we learn about Glencairn and its craftsmanship, a recent addition to the library's Museum pass program.
This program fulfills the Civic and Social Literacy of PaLA's PA Forward Gold Star program. There will be no salespeople present, no forms to complete, and the presenter will not receive a list of program attendees.
