Join us as we discuss The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson.

In 1936, deep into the woods of Kentucky, lives blue-skinned young woman, the last living female of the rare Blue People ancestry. The lonely Appalachian woman becomes a traveling librarian, riding across slippery creek beds and treacherous mountains on her faithful mule to deliver books to the impoverished hill people of Eastern Kentucky. Along her dangerous route, she confronts those suspicious the government's new book program (and of her blue skin). She befriends hardscrabble and complex fellow Kentuckians, and is fiercely determined to bring comfort, instill literacy, and provide a bookly respite to those who have nothing.
