Genealogy - Using Newspapers

Christa Cowan has compared historic newspapers to today’s Facebook. They tell stories about many aspects of our ancestors’ lives: birth announcements, marriages, obituaries, and funerals, but much more. Did your ancestor win an award? Did they attend a party with their friends or go for a sleigh ride? Was there a family reunion? Were they drafted or involved in a court case? Were they part of an historic event? These are just a few of the kinds of things you can find in newspaper articles. Join us to find out about how you can access old newspapers online and offline from the Library and other places.
