90 Second Newbery

Let’s make a movie! We'll be turning the Newbery Award honoree from 2024, Elf Dog and Owl Head by M.T. Anderson into a 90-second flash movie. Children will act out scenes, create props, and have fun making a movie! Register for the program starts on May 27 and stop by the Information Services desk anytime after to pick up your own copy of the book.

For children entering grades 4-8. We ask that participants try to commit to at least half of the sessions for filming purposes.

*Children will be given photo release forms before filming. Children who do not have these filled out can still participate, but they will not be on camera.

What is 90 Second Newbery?

90 Second Newbery is annual video contest in which young filmmakers create weird short movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery-winning books in about a minute and a half. Anyone can enter!
