Genealogy: Tracing Our Roots: Getting Started in Jewish Genealogy
Event box
Joel Spector will present this month's program from the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Philadelphia. He will discuss the basics of Jewish Genealogy and describe the variety of resources that can be used to increase your family’s genealogical knowledge. It will begin with suggestions for documenting information you already have, and provide a handout, “Ancestor Information” for that purpose. The session will then describe the various sources for family/genealogical information available both online and in person. We will discuss in detail the data contained in several resources and describe how it can be accessed. An extensive list of resources and suggestions, “Getting Started in Jewish Genealogy: Resources,” will be provided. How you can become active in the Jewish genealogical community will conclude the session.
There will be no salespeople present, no forms to complete, and the presenter will not receive a list of program attendees.
This program fulfills the Information Literacy for PaLA's PA Forward Gold Star program.
This program is presented as part of the Yiddish Book Center's Public Libraries Program, a partnership with the American Library Association. Made possible by the Lilly Endowment, Inc.
