Origins of a Legend: The New Jersey Devil
Event box

Myths and legends often have some kernel of historical truth. So, what can we make of the Jersey Devil myth? Is any part of the tale rooted in fact? Historian and archivist Mickey DiCamillo discusses the origins of Jersey's most famous mythological monster and identifies the real-life creatures (some human...some beast) that inspired the story that lives on today. From dinosaurs to witches to Benjamin Franklin…a lot goes into making a myth.
60-minute presentation with 15-minute Q&A to follow. Registration not required but encouraged.
