People Call Me Stagecoach Mary
Event box
Grab your cowboy (or cowgirl) hat and join us as we travel to the Wild West to learn about Mary Fields. When you think of the Wild West, your first thought usually isn't a big Black woman, but Stagecoach Mary, as she was called, was 6'2" 200 pounds of the pure meanest if you crossed her and gentle as a lamb if you didn't. Go back in time as we hear about how she became a Star Route mail carrier for the US Postal Service in 1895. Battle freezing temperatures, hungry wolves, and blinding blizzards as you join us for the ride!
Presented by Dr. Daisy Century
Dr. Century has her Ed.D. She taught for over twenty years in the Philadelphia School System as an award-winning science teacher. She has become quite a history hound and historian researching information for her historical interpretations.
