Unearth the history of drive-in movie theaters! The concept of drive-in theaters began in South Jersey and its popularity eventually grew throughout the country. The Delaware Valley was loaded with drive-ins during the theaters’ peak popularity: the Lincoln, the Andalusia, the Bucks County, the Roosevelt and more. In this program hosted by Temple University professor Irv Slifkin, we’ll take a look at the history of outdoor theaters, the unique drive-in experience and area “passion pits” we knew and loved.
