A Folklore Storytelling Gathering with Kala Jojo
Free Library of New Hope & Solebury
Monday, June 29, 2026, 1pm

In African tradition, the storyteller is more than an entertainer - they are the keeper of memory, culture, wisdom, and spirit. Kala Jojo stands firmly in this lineage. Drawing on diverse oral traditions, especially African American and Caribbean cultures, his performances integrate songs and chants with compelling stories, creating a rich and engaging experience. Kala uses an array of classical instruments to enhance his engaging performances. Through rhythm, voice, music, movement and humor, he connects audiences to the ancestral power of story. Registration appreciated but not required for this program.

Summer Reading at the Free Library of New Hope & Solebury is made possible by generous grants from the Haley Foundation, New Hope Helping, and the Friends of the Free Library of New Hope & Solebury. Thank you for your support!
