It is the time in Japan for celebration of the ancestors - the Obon Festival filled with music and community dance!  Musician and scholar Paul Butler will do a discussion and demonstration of traditional Japanese instruments, including koto, shamisen, shakuhachi, shinbue, taiko and others, and will also teach a simple Obon dance so that participants may experience the sights and sounds of this Japanese tradition.
